Keep things in perspective: Time is a precious thing. Never waste it

As I Twittered, I’m now heading home after a long day (no, really). After days like today, I recalled this posting on the subject: http://blogs.msdn.com/mthree/archive/2007/09/30/time-is-fleeting-093007.aspx

There are two stories that I have followed over the last few months and years, respectively, stories that make you think and put things into perspective.  When I drift into thinking that something is too hard or I think that I don’t have enough time, lately I’ve thought of these stories.

Given the recent untimely passing of Marc Olson from the Office team, old friends such as the truly irrepressible Christopher Bock and far too many others, I remind my kids (particularly my nine year old) that time is too precious to waste.

Make the most of time: I often quote the throw-away line from Willy Wonka “Time is a precious thing. Never waste it.”

Have a good evening.

A badge of your very own: I’m a PC

Breaking for lunch, and so here’s a quick post with a little badge for those interested, given the feedback to my post last week on being a PC among other things. 😉

I'm a PC  I'm a PC  Life without Walls

Have you recorded your own clip yet?  As noted, I found that Steve Ballmer has.

And few insights and comments in response to Rob Pegoraro’s blog post last week on Microsoft’s new message.

This ad campaign certainly works in terms of getting people to talk about Microsoft — here I am writing about the ads, here you are reading about them. But unless this marketing message gets followed up by some concrete reasons to choose Windows over another operating system, I’m not sure if they’ll get people to follow up with their credit cards.

Apple’s “Think Different” campaign was largely gauzy idealism, but it was replaced by those “Switch” ads and, more recently, the “I’m a Mac. And I’m a PC” clips — most of which emphasize specific Apple advantages, like a Mac’s backup tools or multimedia capabilities.

What say you about Microsoft’s new marketing? And, of course: Are you a PC?

I see a new licensing fee coming my way: the Minox DCC Leica M3 Plus

In the what’s also labeled with my name department, this morning brings this mail from my friend Claudia in Europe (thanks!) with details on a new gadget…

image“I saw this information on anew digitalcamera from Minox. It is very small and looks very cool and I think you should have one just for the name!”

It’s the new Minox DCC Leica M3 a Fantastic Voyage version of the classic Leica M3 camera…

On the outside it features the miniaturized shell of the legendary Leica M3, designed in great detail, and inside it is packed with innovative technology in the form of a powerful digital camera.

It takes SD memory cards (not SDHC – maximum of 4GB) with a 5.0 MP CMOS Sensor, with up to 3.2 MP photos, and 320 x 240 .avi video clips.

Very cute.

All yours for 229 Euros, which at today’s exchange rate according to Yahoo’s currency converter is about US$330.

Of interest: New ‘Life without Walls’ Wallpapers for your PC… or Mac

Brandon LeBlanc said on the The Windows Experience Blog that he’s posting a few of the new "Life without Walls" images as desktops…

In light of tonight’s new ad "Life without Walls" seen in newspapers today along with the new "Real PC" TV ads (see Chris’s post); I’ve decided to make wallpapers for folks so they can add "Life without Walls" as wallpaper on their PC.

Life without Walls Wallpaper 1920x1200
1920×1200

I’m sure that you can install on your Windows PC, or your Mac running Windows. 😉
